Two Fisted Joins The Resistance

Lights flash, screams flood our ears as the anticipation grows. Would it be an Uprising? a Resistance? The familiar bass pierced the crowd and we all just about lose it. Teignmouth, UK natives, Muse rocked the ACC last night in their largest Toronto performance to date. In their usual dramatic sense, three tall pillars fill the stage, on which ghostly figures are being projected, Uprising starts off the show. They showed up with a set list to touch all the taste buds and leave wanting to do nothing more than run home and spend the night listening to every other song they've written.

The set list had a variety of new tracks; Uprising, Resistance, Undisclosed Desires, Unnatural Selection, Guiding Light, United States of Eurasia, and an encore presentation of Exogenesis: Symphony Part 1 - Overture. They were glad to oblige our needs for the classics as well with jaw-dropping performances of Interlude/Hysteria, Stockholm Syndrome, Feeling Good, New Born, Plug in Baby, Nishe, Time is Running Out, Supermassive Black Hole, Starlight, Map of the Problematique, and Knights of Cydonia. Each song presented with a glorious improvisation and jam sessions in between they're studio tracks with hints of Rage Against the Machine and even Toronto area natives Rush.

Lasers and spotlights ablaze, the usual tech was present expectant of a Muse performance with Bellamy exercising Midi-controls via the custom-built Manson guitars and Wolstenholme playing a variety of basses from Fender and Rickenbacker, masterfully paired with his signature bass effects. The elevating 3-part stage provided an assortment of playing arrangements to keep the crowd entertained. All the stops were pulled out for this performance, even inflated, confetti-filled eye-balls dropped from the roof mid performance.

A first class performance gents, thanks for a great night!
